English Level Placement Test (AMIRNET)

The AMIRNET is a test of English knowledge that is given by computer and is used by academic institutions for placement purposes.
The test checks the examinee’s English proficiency in the areas of reading comprehension and vocabulary. The questions on the AMIRNET are similar to those contained in the English sections of the Psychometric Entrance Test. These question types include Sentence Completion, Reading Comprehension Text and Questions, and Restatement.

As of March 17, 2025, experimental sections with four new question types were added to the English Level Placement Test (AMIRNET). The new test format therefore consists of 8 chapters, instead of 6. You may not choose which type of experimental questions will be included in your test and it is possible that you will receive two sections of the same question type. For more information on the new test format, click here.

Anyone interested in taking the AMIRNET may register for the test on the NITE website. Tests for those who register via the site will be administered at one of the NITE Test Centers across Israel. From time to time, the AMIRNET will also be administered at institutions of higher education throughout Israel. To learn how to register for a test administered at an institution, please contact the institution in which you are enrolled. NOTE: You must wait at least 35 days before taking another English level placement test (AMIRNET). An examinee who registers for the AMIRNET within less than 35 days of their previous test will not be allowed to take the test and will be responsible for logging onto the website and changing their registration to a new test date, pending available space. Changing your test date or test location after the test is given will entail a service charge of 45% of the current test fee.
Within 10 days of the test date, you will be able to see your score by logging onto the NITE website. You may also download your score sheet as a file to your computer at any time, at no charge. Test scores will not be sent to examinees by email.
