As of May 4, 2025, All Examinees of the Yaelnet Test Are Required to Use a Computer to Type Their Essay

As of Sunday, May 4, 2025, all examinees of the YAELNET test are required to use a computer to type their essay in the final section of the test. Handwritten tests are no longer possible.
The time allotted for writing the essay is 20 minutes (as opposed to the 15 minutes formerly allotted for writing the essay by hand).

Your essay must be 100-130 words (which is the equivalent of the former requirement of 12-15 lines). You can use the word count function on the screen to keep track of the length of your essay as you are typing.
You will be able to edit and correct your essay (within the allotted time), thus avoiding a lack of clarity because of hard-to-read handwriting.

It is recommended that you practice typing in Hebrew before the test: You can do this by typing Hebrew texts on the computer, by writing emails or posting on social media in Hebrew, and of course by typing essays in Hebrew.
It is also highly recommended to do the practice YAELNET test to practice typing your essay under the same conditions of the actual test.

In addition, as of Sunday, May 4, 2025, the instructions at the beginning of the YAELNET test were shortened, and the practice questions were removed.
It is highly recommended to do the practice YAELNET test so that you will be familiar with the types of questions that will appear in the test and to practice marking the answers in the computerized test.
